Reviews of ‘Jack in the Wallows’

MAGICAL AND PAGE-TURNING

What a wonderful imagination this author has. Extremely well-written, the story flows and takes the reader with it, accompanying Jack, who is struggling with his parents splitting up, and his brave cousin Katie, into a magical world full of fascinating creatures. Many times their lives are in danger and the whole storyline is gripping. There is also a message here about conserving the environment. Highly recommended.

A magical story full of incident

A pacy story, filled with incident. The main characters, Jack and Katie are warmly drawn and very likeable. Hero, their leprechaun guide is great too – impatient and crochety but also a loyal ally and friend. And the story’s setting has plenty of magical and intriguing touches – especially the giant dragonflies which I thought were lovely. Plenty of possibilities for a sequel too…

Wholly believable

Children will love this story where two children are transported to a mystical world where magical creatures are involved in a war. They’ll get carried along in an atmosphere where the characters are wholly believable. This book will keep youngsters occupied for hours.

Each page draws you deeper and deeper into an epic battle between good and evil

An enthralling tale of magical lands and mythical creatures. Each page draws you deeper and deeper into an epic battle between good and evil where our two hero’s, Jack and Katie have to save Queen Erinaka’s Queendom from Mallor the Weird and his army of Gangrals. Magic potions, spells, wands and a Seeker’s Scroll help our hero’s on their almost impossible quest. The final moments are nail biting. Shalbey Bellaman entices her readers into a world of imagination, wonder and epic adventures. An absolutely delightful read!

She enjoyed it so much that I asked her to tell…

I bought this book for my granddaughter who is eight-and-a-half years old. She enjoyed it so much that I asked her to tell me what it was that she liked and I wrote it down verbatim for this review.
“The main characters were not soppy or goody two shoes and they were not perfect. They were believable characters because they were good and bad.. It was a really exciting story and a page-turner, especially after they met the queen and I could not put the book down. It was a very imaginative story.” Gabriella.
My granddaughter read the book in 4 days and is now a big fan of Shalbey Bellaman. An excellent recommendation for Gabriella’s age group.
